Dynaface for Android

Dynaface for Android is the same app that ships on the App Store and the Microsoft Store, offered here as a direct download.

Why a direct download?

Google Play classifies Dynaface as a wellness app, and since 2026 Google requires such apps to be published from an organization developer account. Dynaface is published by an individual (Jeff Heaton), so the Android version is offered here instead of through Google Play. The app itself is unchanged: all analysis runs on your device, nothing is uploaded anywhere, and it is free and open source like the other versions.

Installing

Installing an app from outside Google Play takes a few extra taps the first time. Every step below is standard Android behavior for any app that does not come from the Play Store; the wording shown is Chrome's, and other browsers ask the same things.

  1. On your Android device, open this page and tap the download button above.
  2. Chrome warns that the file "might be harmful", as it does for every app installed outside Google Play. Tap Download anyway. The download is 423 MB, so allow a few minutes on Wi-Fi.
  3. When it finishes, tap the download notification, or open Dynaface-2.0.2.apk from the Files app.
  4. The first time, Android shows "Permission required: your phone currently isn't allowed to install unknown apps from this source." Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source for your browser, and press back. This is a one-time setting.
  5. The install prompt appears; tap Install. Google Play Protect may offer to scan the app first; let it.
  6. Tap Open, or find Dynaface in your app list. It asks for camera access only when you first use the camera.

Updates

Apps installed this way do not update themselves. New versions are posted on this page; installing one over the existing app keeps your catalog, because every Dynaface release is signed with the same key.
